INDONESIANS RATTLED

PADANG -- A series of powerful earthquakes in western Indonesia -- including one that triggered a tsunami warning yesterday -- has left thousands sleeping on plastic sheets in the hills afraid to return to their homes. Seismologists warn the worst may yet to come. "No one can say whether it will be in 30 seconds or 30 years," Kerry Sieh of the California Institute of Technology said.

CHINA CAPS EXECUTIONS

BEIJING -- China has ordered judges to use the death penalty more sparingly by showing leniency for murderers who co-operate with authorities and white collar criminals who help recoup their ill-gotten gains. The order is the latest effort by Beijing to reform capital punishment in China, which has more executions than the rest of the world combined.

"I woke up because the pain was unbearable," Camejo said, according to a report on Friday in leading local newspaper El Universal.

His grieving wife turned up at the morgue to identify her husband's body only to find him moved into a corridor -- and alive.

Reuters could not immediately reach hospital officials to confirm the events. But Camejo showed the newspaper his facial scar and a document ordering the autopsy.

Man Declared Dead, Wakes at Autopsy
Medical examiners realised to their horror that what they thought was a cadaver was in fact a person who was still alive and in excruciating pain after they began an incision on his face that started to bleed.

The patient Carlos Camejo was officially declared dead after a highway accident and taken to the morgue after a highway accident. He stated, "I woke up because the pain was unbearable."

His wife arriving at the morgue saw he had been moved into the corridor and very much alive. Rueters sighted the man's facial scar and the documentation confirming the autopsy.

Camejo had been declared dead after a traffic accident near Caracas and transported to the hospital morgue. Pathologists realized that there was something wrong when Carnejo started bleeding during the autopsy.

I woke up because the pain was unbearable, the 'dead man' told El Universal newspaper. His wife, who had been asked to come to the morgue to identify him, found him sitting in the hall - alive.

The hospital did not wish to comment on the incident. As proof of his claims, Carnejo offered a scar and a document ordering autopsy
Carlos Camejo was pronounced dead shortly after he was involved in a car accident in Venezuela. In typical fashion doctors began a post-mortem but in a freakish turn of events the 33-year-old victim was obviously a survivor.

Camejo awoke to "unbearable" pain after doctors began his autopsy by making an incision on his face. Noticing that Camejo was bleeding the medics realized that they no longer had a fatality on their hands and that became even more obvious when Carlos awoke.

Doctors weren't the only ones surprised; Camejo's wife had gone down to the morgue to identify her husband's body. When she arrived to find out he was alive she was elated.

Carlos is reportedly recovering.
