rusty redfern

Atlanta, Ga. 9/19/2007 2:37 PM GMT (FINDITT)
Police and a county medical examiner have declared that Charles Keith Teer died of a heart attack and not a head-butt delivered by an armless man, William Russell "Rusty" Redfern.

According to police reports Teer was involved in a scuffle with Redfern after the two argued over a woman. Witnesses said that Rusty Redfern kicked Teer and Terr responded by punching the armless man. After the two were separated Redfern broke free and delivered a head-butt that left Teer feeling dizzy. Moments after the fight Teer collapsed and died.

The fight centered on a woman that once dated Teer and who is now seeing Redfern.

Redfern was believed to have delivered the fatal blow that caused Teer to collapse but chief investigator with the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office Ted Bailey reported that "There was no significant trauma which caused his death. He died of natural causes."

Rusty Redfern is a well known artist who has gained international recognition for the drawings he creates with his feet.

Redfern was not immediately charged with any crime but police are awaiting autopsy results before ruling out further action against the artist.

KANGAROOS captain Darren Lockyer has been subjected to the same rumours of recreational drug use that circulated in rugby league circles for years about Andrew Johns.

While there is no proof Lockyer has taken drugs, the Broncos skipper has been mentioned in whispering campaigns for several years.

The Broncos management and coach Wayne Bennett have known of the rumours for some time involving their captain and other players at the club. The Broncos have led the way with drug testing in the NRL, conducting 600 internal tests over the past two seasons.

We mention Lockyer today because, coincidentally, he has been in the company of both Johns and Wendell Sailor before their drugs issues over the past 18 months.

Lockyer stayed at Sailor's Bronte home on the weekend his former Broncos team-mate used cocaine last year.

He also spent time with Johns in London last week before the former Knight was arrested for being in the possession of an ecstasy tablet. Lockyer was on his way home from the UK last night and could not be contacted.

His manager, George Mimis, was aware of the rumours two years ago and has spoken to Lockyer about it.

"You hear a lot of rumours about people all the time,'' Mimis said. "A couple of points need to be made. Darren saw Joey in London but didn't spend a lot of time with him. He was travelling with his fiancee.

"It's all right to claim someone's guilty by association but drug tests don't lie. Darren has been tested many times over the years and has never had a problem.''

IF you thought Brian Smith was unpopular with Knights players in Newcastle, we're told Canberra Raiders players think much the same of their coach Neil Henry. Judging by our feedback from Canberra, players are on the verge of fronting club management to complain about several incidents from training and match days recent weeks.

PARRAMATTA hooker Mark Riddell has denied he is in a relationship with controversial ironwoman Candice Falzon. Riddell was spotted sharing his dessert with Falzon at the Intersection Hotel at Ramsgate last week. The player nicknamed "Piggy'' told a colleague: "I would never share my chocolate fondue with anyone -everyone knows I would never part with a dessert!''

DALLY M Medal favourite Robbie Farah has a special guest for Tuesday night's presentation at the Town Hall - his mum, Sonia. Farah, who has nursed a hip injury and played with pain killers in the Tigers' ill-fated run to the finals, is widely expected to win league's most coveted award. Mrs Farah won't be the only special guest. Prime Minister John Howard is a late acceptance for one of his favourite annual sporting occasions. Not even the expected arrival of George W. Bush can stop him attending. We hear the PM will stay for the player of the year presentation and then sneak off to meet the US president.

HERE'S proof that Phil Kearns is one of the nicest blokes in Australian sport. Nattily attired in a suit and laden with bags, he was rushing through the Qantas domestic terminal during the week when he was intercepted by a jeans-clad punter. After an exchange of pleasantries, the punter asked Kearnsy for a mobile-phone picture, saying: "My wife is in love with you and always has been.'' To which Kearns replied, "Mate, she's obviously got class'', before posing for the picture. A quick handshake and Kearnsy was off to his plane, for which he was already late. Some blokes in the NRL and AFL could learn a thing or two.

THE few fans who listen to Triple M's call of Monday Night Football can be grateful the station didn't broadcast too many Souths games this season. Head commentator Anthony Maroon had to be told to stop screaming support for the Rabbitohs by print journos trying to cover the Souths-Tigers game at Leichhardt last Sunday. Despite the pleas of frustrated hacks, Maroon continued to bellow support for Souths for the full 80 minutes.

ROBBIE O'Davis hasn't stopped running since Newcastle axed him at the end of the 2004 season. O'Davis took up triathlon a couple of years ago to prove to the Knights he still had the fitness to compete in the NRL, but he admits he's now addicted. O'Davis finished the Lake Macquarie Half-Marathon last week in 85 minutes and will compete in the Gold Coast Half-Ironman on September 30. He's then aiming for the Australian ironman championships at Port Macquarie in April.

THERE is no questioning the passion of league fans in the outback Queensland town of Barcaldine. After the cancellation of their annual show-day holiday in May, local businesses asked their workers to choose another public holiday later in the year. The Monday after the NRL grand final was easily the most popular choice. They can now spend Monday, October 1, recovering from grand final hangovers.

THE Roosters had a farewell for Craig Wing at their leagues club last week. Club supremo Nick Politis presented the glamour boy with a gladiator suit as his farewell gift. We can't wait for Rusty Crowe and Wingy to start playing dress-ups at Redfern next year.

NATIONAL swimming coach Alan Thompson is a Bulldogs fanatic who likes to keep in touch. At Friday night's short-course championships in Melbourne, his mates sent text messages with the score every 10 minutes from Townsville. Even in Japan last week, his friends were texting him scores. Thompson is a former Bulldogs player and was best man for coach Steve Folkes at his wedding.
